Editorial Policy & Standards
Every recipe on ChickenRecipes.ca is developed and reviewed to a consistent standard. Here is exactly how we work.
Kitchen-Tested
Recipes are developed and prepared in a home kitchen with equipment Canadian cooks actually own β not commercial gear. We cook each dish before it publishes to confirm timings, temperatures, and yields.
Accuracy First
Internal temperatures follow Health Canada's safe-cooking guidance (chicken to 74Β°C / 165Β°F). Ingredient measurements are given in both metric and imperial for Canadian kitchens.
Reviewed for Nutrition
Nutrition estimates are calculated per serving using standard food-composition data. They are estimates for general information and are not medical advice.
Kept Up to Date
Recipes carry a published and a last-updated date. When readers flag an issue, or when we improve a method, we revise the page and update the modified date.
How We Develop a Recipe
Every recipe starts with a clear goal: a reliable, repeatable result for a specific dish that Canadian home cooks want to make. We research classic and contemporary versions of the dish, decide on the technique that gives the best result for a home kitchen, and write the method step by step.
We prioritise clarity over cleverness. Steps are written in the order you actually perform them, with the visual and sensory cues (colour, texture, aroma) that tell you a stage is done β not just a clock time, because ovens, stovetops, and cuts of chicken vary.
How We Test
Before a recipe is published we prepare it and check three things: does the timing match real cooking, does the yield match the stated servings, and is the result genuinely good. If a step is fiddly or a result is inconsistent, we rewrite the method until it is dependable.
We note the tips and common mistakes we ran into while testing, and we include them on the recipe page so you can avoid them. Where a dish has popular variations, dietary swaps, or make-ahead options, we test and describe those too.
Sourcing & Food Safety
Food-safety guidance on this site follows recommendations from Health Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, including safe internal cooking temperatures and safe handling of raw poultry. When we reference nutrition, we use standard food-composition datasets.
Chicken should always be cooked to an internal temperature of 74Β°C (165Β°F) measured with a food thermometer at the thickest part, avoiding the bone. Refrigerate leftovers within two hours.
Corrections & Feedback
We want every recipe to work in your kitchen. If something looks wrong β an amount, a temperature, a step that doesn't add up β please tell us through our contact page. We review reader reports, correct genuine errors promptly, and update the recipe's modified date so you know it has been revised.
